Women In Art in Leeds
Women In Art
Left Bank, Leeds
Thursday 7th September 2017
Join us for a panel discussion about women in art that will introduce some key female figures from history and how they have helped shape the environment that female arts practitioners work in today.
The discussion will be chaired by Elspeth Mitchell, a PhD researcher at the University of Leeds, exploring the figure of 'the girl' in moving image and feminist philosophy. She is associate editor of the critical theory and philosophy journal parallax and recently co-convened the second Feminist Readings symposium in 2016. She is also co-director of SPUR, a contemporary arts collective based in the North of England.
Elspeth will be joined by: painter Rachel Hinds, designer Hannah Edmonds, sound artist Marlo De Lara, and performance artist and lecturer Gillian Dyson-Moss.
