Blimey! Cops and Robbers has been going for Twenty whole years! It is a monthly printed guide to DIY gigs in Leeds & Bradford. It was invented by Raino and Archie a short life-time ago back in 1999. It’s since been run by all sorts of other
masochistic weirdos, labouring with love, to promote DIY events, and subsequently, the very ethos and existence of DIY music and art, and the culture that surrounds it.
The Leeds and UK DIY music landscape would be completely different and a lot less interesting and vital if it hadn’t been for Cops and Robbers. So let’s celebrate with some bands from Leeds and beyond…(not too far away cos this is meant to be a fundraiser)
Here’s what’s happening:

Back over from Manchester again to treat us with minimal, functional no wave post-punk, frenetic jams for frenzied forms, feat. members of DUDS & B.E.T.H.

Russian Constructivist loving / shouty-post-punk-upbeat racket. Feat. members of Anti-Monopoly Trashmen, Ladies Nite and Commiserations, with a whopping 189 Facebook followers.

Also from Manchester, playing for the first time in Leeds: Robotic angular guitar riffs and fast drum beats, feat. members of DUDS, Spengler, The Birthmarks, Llion Swyd and bunny hoova.

Founding member of Vibracathedral Orchestra playing buoyant, rolling, ecstatic riffs and endless solos to make one joyous sin-riddening re-birth.

Now not-so-New-ish Leeds prospects doing weirdo/queero HC with hints of ButtholeSurfers/Urinals/Swell Maps.

Fred from Zozo gone solo – high-drama synths and beats, sincere vocals yearnings and confused murmurings.

A terrifying harpee trio of fulminating femmes armed with chromatic clank, siren-shrill syrupvox and particle accelerated sandbox-jamboree. Gretchen from Guttersnipe, Hilary/Basic Switches from Cowtown, Kathy/Mia La Metta/Empress Maude from

Two thirds of Beards and one half of Guttersnipe. Newly birthed Post-Punk-Leeds-Wave.

An 8 and 16 beat inspired platform console Nintendo dream world of Jonny Cowtown weaving warm analog bass, crispy acid beats and ear-grabbing melodies into ravey zingers.

Followed by PARTY DRESS club-night TIL LATE!!
DJ DORIC DECKER plays sexy hits for disco dancing & KMFM plays 70/80s hits, 90/00s flops and probably Popcorn at least 5 times.
